Botanical name: Exacum pumilum    Family: Gentianaceae (Gentian family)

Little Persian Violet, is a small herbaceous plant, and is a dwarfish species of Persian Violets. Stem is 4-angled. Leaves are up to 12 x 6 mm, ovate-lanceshaped, lower much smaller, 1-nerved; upper 3-nerved from base, stalkless. Flowers arise mostly singly or in few flowered lax cymes. Flower-stalks are up to 1.5 cm, enlarge in fruitin. Sepals are 1 mm long, wings narrow. Flowers are bluish-white, lobes oblong-obovate, 5 x 3.5 mm. Capsule 4 x 3 mm. The plant occurs in monsoons. Little Persian Violet is native to Western Ghats. Flowering: September.
